20th Anniversary Trip - Day FIVE

We left Kellee's in a flurry of last minute packing, quick breakfasts, frantic loading and unloading, and a general sense of scurrying about.

It reminded me of Harry Potter when it's the first day of school and the Weasleys are all trying to get to the train station.  We were trying to get to the train station, too, and wouldn't you know Nathan was carrying a wand and I had a bottle of pumpkin juice in my bag?

We rode the train back to the airport and then caught a shuttle from Fort Lauderdale to the Port of Miami.

At the Port we didn't wait too long to get checked in and our key cards issued, but then we waited quite a while in the holding area.

The ship was undergoing some type of inspection so we had to wait longer than usual.  It was totally fine... I don't know why we were in such a hurry to get somewhere that we'd be for ELEVEN more days.

Darren always says that he can't really relax until he steps off the gangplank and onto the ship.

Waiting to board
Getting closer!

On the gangplank
It is time!
Let's get this party started!

After boarding the ship we got some lunch and ate it on deck. Our rooms were not quite ready.  The sun was out, the music was playing, and we were giddy with excitement.

It wasn't long before our room was ready. I was relieved to find it had a lot more closet space than I had expected.  We totally knew we could make it work.

Before we left dock we had to attend a mandatory life boat drill. We were all waiting in section H waiting for the last few stragglers to show up (thanks a lot Grandma and Grandpa Taylor. HA).

Finally, it was time to get under way.
The bands started  going again, and the dance party started. And guess who was right in the middle of it all?

Before we left dock, a quick storm blew through for a few minutes. The kids seemed to think it was great fun to get drenched from head to toe.

We sailed out of the channel and into the open seas.

It was time for the next adventure to begin!
