2017 was such a weird year for me. I didn't read as much as I normally do. I worked out of town a lot more, couldn't find things that interested me, and was just BUSY.
I wasn't as diligent about recording my books, either. I know my final list includes all the ones checked out from our local library or Pioneer, as they each keep a history of my checkouts. If I picked up a book from my own shelf or that the kids brought home from school, it likely didn't get put on the list.
That being said, I recorded 80 books this year.
HARD COPY:27
KINDLE: 48
AUDIO:5
BOOKS FINISHED FROM THE GOODREADS CHALLENGE (I SWEAR I AM GOING TO FINISH THE LIST THIS YEAR):
- Siddharta by Herman Hesse
- Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
- Interview With a Vampire by Anne Rice
- Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
- Moby Dick by Herman Melville
- Watership Down by Richard Adams
(and 1/2 of Don Quixote and 1/2 of The Brothers Karamazov)
With the exception of Vampire Academy I could see why they were classics. I can't say I LOVED any of them, but I am rather proud I made it through Moby Dick. The one I enjoyed most was Watership Down.
FAVORITE AUDIO BOOKS:
- Lassoing the Sun: A Year In America's National Parks by Mark Woods
- Zookeepers Wife by Diane Ackerman
- Flight by Sherman Alexie
*Of these, my favorite is Flight.
BOOKS THAT HAVE STUCK IN MY HEAD (probably because they each made me THINK):
- Monkey Wrench Gang by Edward Abbey
- The Girls by Emma Cline
- Tell the Wolves I'm Home by Carol Rifka Blunt
- The Hate U Give - by Angie Thomas
- The Nix - by Nathan Hill
FAVORITE READS OF THE YEAR:
- Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult
- Wolf Hollow by Lauren Wolk
- The Scythe by Neal Shusterman
